Responsible Business - Let's take responsibility

Hotel practises Responsible Business
Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of the broader commitment of the Radisson Hotel Group to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, cultural heritage, employee and children’s rights, health and safety and environmental improvements.

The hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and the corporate international charity organisation supported by the Radisson Hotel Group, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to defend the rights of the child and promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children all over the world.

The Park Inn by Radisson Northampton encourages and educates staff and customers on the need to be responsible, highlighting the impact, however small, one can have on the local and global environment. The hotel looks to source suppliers that fulfil RB criteria and promote fair trade products. Guest participation through suggestions or donations is always welcome.

RB activities of this hotel include:

  • Bicycle rack to encourage staff and guests to cycle to the hotel
  • Charity team in place to raise GBP 1,000 for the hotel's local charity, the Camrose Centre, and GBP 1,000 for the World Childhood Foundation
  • Energy audits to review progress on reduction plan
  • Focus on hotel recycling, including paper and food waste
  • Furniture donation during the hotel's investment programme
  • Recycling bins in the main reception lobby
  • Responsible Business Action Month during September (activities have included management participating in a treadmill fundraiser)
  • Use and promotion of fair trade produce
  • Use of local suppliers to reduce mileage
