National Football Museum

Are you a devout football fan? Then you absolutely must head to the National Football Museum in the Urbis building in Manchester. This museum has four floors of football memorabilia and absolutely everything related to the sport from jerseys to Willie Cunningham’s knee cartilage. Explore the permanent and temporary exhibitions, join a tour and kick a ball around.

Welcome to a world of football

This football museum offers fans a perfect day out exploring their favourite sport. Entrance is free and if you would like to take a guided tour, it only costs a couple of pounds. Step your way through the different exhibitions and discover some pretty cool football related items. You will find the Footballeur statue by Pablo Picasso, the oldest football board game, a 1930 World Cup match ball and so much more. If you make a donation to the museum then you get some simulator credits, a visitor guide and the chance to grab photos of you with their famous trophies.
One of the most hands on experiences at the museum is the FootballPlus+ simulator. Kick around a ball in the Penalty Shootout game, test your reflexes in the Shot-Stopper and try out your commentary skills. You will need credits to participate in the simulators and games and these can be purchased at the front desk.

When with the family

If you are travelling with children then bring them along! There is a dedicated children’s play area for under 5s, FootballPlus+ simulators, which are suitable for those over 7, and Baby Moves sessions. The museum is pram friendly and has heaps of interactive displays that captivate all ages. Any entry charging exhibitions are also free for those under 16.
When looking for accommodation nearby, the Park Inn by Radisson Manchester City Centre has you covered. It is a short six minute walk from the Ubris building and all its excitement inside.
