Museum of Science and Industry

The Manchester Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) will have you engaged and enthralled from the moment you step inside. This gem is filled to the brim with interactive exhibitions and interesting sites. Check out their many displays including the Revolutionary Railroad and Experiment areas. Children will love exploring and learning here, so this is a must when travelling with the little ones.

Some of the best displays around

Rated as one of the best things to do in Manchester, MOSI is an excellent place to spend a day. Watch your kid’s faces light up when you take them into the Air and Space Hall to see the cool planes and replicas. The first all-British plane is here, the Roe Triplane 1, as well as the Avro Shackleton, which was designed to spot submarines. Learn about Manchester made radar scanners and much more. The museum also has a great section with real working steam engines in the Power Hall.

If you would like to see some demonstrations then check if the mill in the Textiles Gallery is due for a show. You will get to witness how cloth was made 150 years ago in the roaring mills. There is also a replica of Baby, the first computer to store and run a program. On certain days, you can see this giant machine tick away and complete the program.

Flight simulators and a 4D cinema

When you come to MOSI there is more than just cool displays and items to ponder, they have their own 4D cinema, simulators and events. The 4D cinema gets all your senses going on an adventure to escape a curse unleashed after stealing a pirate’s treasure. Buckle up and enjoy the ride! As well as a cinema, there is a Fly 360 flight simulator that allows you to fly your own jet and do some tricks mid-air if you dare!
