Responsible Business - Let's take responsibility

Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of the broader commitment of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, cultural heritage, employee and children’s rights, health, safety and environmental improvements.

The hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and the corporate international charity organisation supported by the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to defend the rights of the child and promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children all over the world.

This hotel’s RB activities and achievements include:

  • Asking guests to participate in our initiatives for towel re-use, paperless office and battery recycling
  • Collecting for Save the Children, Asthma UK and Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital
  • Designating a dedicated RB coordinator
  • Earning the Silver Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme
  • Encouraging employees to reduce adverse effects of daily activities
  • Partnering with local schools in a work-placement program
  • Placing energy-saving lamps in all rooms and an equipment switch-off program
  • Training all employees in RB practices
  • Using fair-trade coffee in the hotel restaurant
  • Working with local authorities to develop a sustainable recycling program and to fully adhere to current health and safety legislation
  • Working with suppliers to ensure that goods are ethically traded
