West Brom FC

West Bromwich Albion Football Club, also known as West Brom or the Baggies, was founded in 1878, making it a historic English club. The Football League was founded in 1888 and was a professional league competition for teams in England and Wales, and one of the first of its kind in the world. West Brom was one of its founding members and they have since spent most of their time in top-tier English football. The team have previously been league champions in the early 1900s and have also celebrated success with the FA Cup over the years.

The Hawthorns
The team’s home stadium is known as The Hawthorns with a seating capacity of 26,850. It has been the club’s home since 1900, meaning this well-established team have been playing here for over 100 years. It is the 6th home of West Brom FC. Previous venues became outdated, or the supporters simply outgrew the stadiums. If you are looking for that perfect gift for a Baggies fan, why not combine a match with a stadium tour for a chance to go behind the scenes, into the player’s dressing rooms and pitch side.

The club identity
The team can easily be identified by the navy and white striped shirts and white shorts, which they have played with throughout most of their history. The club logo has changed over the years, but the current badge dates back over 100 years. On it appears a Throstle, a type of bird, in the foreground with the Albion stripes behind it. Since moving to the current stadium, a hawthorn branch was also added.

Whether you are a Baggies fan visiting from elsewhere or are in town as an away supporter, the Park Inn by Radisson Birmingham West makes ideal accommodation. The hotel is conveniently located just 970 metres from the stadium, meaning you don’t have to fight the crowds on public transport but can instead just enjoy the walk.
