Responsible Business - Let's take responsibility

Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of the Rezidor Hotel Group's broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, cultural heritage, employee and children's rights, health and safety, as well as environmental improvements. Our hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and Rezidor's corporate international charity organisation, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world. Here at the Park Inn Hotel Northampton we endeavour to encourage and educate both staff and customers on the need to be responsible, highlighting the impact however small we can have on the local and global environment. We look to source suppliers that fulfill responsible business criteria and promotion of fair trade products. Guest participation -be it through suggestions or donations -is always welcome.

Key Activities that the Park Inn Northampton are undertaking in 2008 & 2009

• Use and promotion of fair trade produce
• Quarterly newsletter for our customers
• Recycle bins in the Main Reception lobby
• Bicycle rack fitted to encourage both staff and guests to cycle to the hotel
• Use of local suppliers to reduce mileage
• Charity team in place to raise £1000 for the hotel's local charity, the Camrose, Centre, and £1000 for the World Childhood Foundation
• Furniture donation during hotel's investment programme
• Energy audits to review progress on reduction plan
• Focus on hotel recycling including paper and food waste
• Annual event - Wear it Pink in aid of Breast Cancer
• Responsible Business Action Month - For the month of September the hotel management team will take part in a treadmill fundraiser
